Pet Diagnostics at Sorell Veterinary Centre
Having advanced diagnostics available on site allows us to obtain results sooner, reduce waiting times and begin treatment promptly when it matters most.
Radiology (X-ray Imaging)
Our clinic is equipped with a modern digital X-ray system that provides high-quality images for immediate assessment. This technology allows our veterinarians to examine bones, joints, the chest and abdominal organs with clarity and precision.
We also offer advanced dental X-ray imaging, which is essential for identifying dental disease beneath the gum line that cannot be seen during a visual examination alone.
When needed, X-rays can be shared with veterinary specialists for a second opinion. Digital copies of imaging are available on request at discharge.
In-House Laboratory Testing
Our on-site laboratory allows us to perform a wide range of routine tests with rapid turnaround times. This includes blood testing, urine analysis and other essential diagnostics that help assess your pet’s internal health.
We also use in-house microscopy to examine samples such as skin scrapings for mites, ear swabs, bacteriology samples and cytology. Fine-needle aspirates can be performed to assess lumps and masses, helping us determine next steps without unnecessary delay.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound imaging provides a non-invasive way to assess soft tissues and organs in real time. At Sorell Veterinary Centre, we use on-site ultrasound to examine the chest, abdomen and other soft tissue structures, allowing for a more accurate diagnosis and prognosis.
Ultrasound is particularly valuable for evaluating internal organs, detecting abnormalities and guiding further treatment or referral when required.
Our diagnostic services help us deliver timely, informed care and peace of mind for pet owners across South East Tasmania.
